Sebelum anda membuat surat lamaran kerja ada beberapa hal yang harus anda perhatikan terlebih dahulu agar surat lamaran kerja yang nantinya anda buat baik dan benar, dan hal-hal yang harus anda perhatikan adalah sebagai berikut :
1. Surat lamaran harus Impresif.
Isi surat lamaran kerja hendaknya dapat memunculkan kesan simpatik, tidak terlalu arogan tetapi juga tidak terlalu merendah. Intinya tampilkan jati diri kita secara menarik.


2.Surat lamaran harus menarik minat calon atasan.
Buatlah surat lamaran kerja yg ketika seseorang mulai membacanya, akan langsung tertarik untuk mengetahui lebih lanjut seperti apakah kriteria kita. Ingat kesan pertama sangatlah penting.


3.Sebutkan kualifikasi yang diraih dalam surat lamaran.
Contoh prestasi kerja maupun pengalaman yg sukses harus disebutkan, untuk menunjukkan bahwa kita mempunyai prestasi & pengalaman yg patut dipertimbangkan.

Gunakan bahasa yang enak dibaca, ringkas dan padat.


4.Pergunakanlah bahasa yg sederhana & ringkas. Kita mempunyai kesempatan lain untuk menjabarkan semua kelebihan dan kualitas diri kita dalam kesempatan wawancara. Maka dari itu, untuk saat ini buat penjelasan yg singkat tetapi efektif.


5.Perhatikan kalimat dalam surat lamaran.
Dalam surat lamaran kerja anda hindari penggunaan kalimat yg tidak efektif, kalimat yang diulang-ulang tanpa alasan, ejaan yang salah, maupun penggunaan tata bahasa yang buruk. Yang sering terjadi adalah penggunaan kata keterangan yang berulang-ulang, atau kata sambung secara berulang-ulang, yang menyebabkan kalimat terasa janggal, bertele-tele persis seperti contoh kalimat yang sedang anda baca saat ini, yang menggunakan banyak kata sambung ‘yang’ secara berulang-ulang & berlebihan.


6.Surat lamaran kerja berbahasa Indonesia.
Sebaiknya pergunakan bahasa Indonesia saja. Jika tidak diminta, hindari penggunaan bahasa Inggris, terutama jika kemampuan bahasa Inggris kita kurang baik. Jika bahasa Inggris kita bagus, boleh saja membuat surat lamaran kerja berbahasa Inggris, yg tentu saja merupakan sebuah nilai lebih bagi kita.


7.Tujuan dan alasan melamar kerja.
Pada surat lamaran kerja anda, cantumkan tujuan & alasan kita melamar. Biasanya tujuan yg sering disebutkan adalah bahwa kita mempunyai kemampuan dan pengalaman yg memadai dalam bidang pekerjaan tertentu, & dengan bergabungnya kita ke suatu perusahaan akan dapat memberikan kontribusi yg berharga bagi perusahaan tersebut.


8.Kerapihan surat.
Agar lamaran anda mudah dibaca jangan menulis atau mencetak dengan tinta yg terlalu tipis, & hindari penggunaan tipp-ex. Pergunakan kertas yg bagus, bersih & rapih, tidak kusut, tidak tebal dan tidak mudah terkoyak.

9.Buat surat lamaran dengan tulis tangan atau komputer?
Jika memungkinkan buatlah surat dengan komputer kecuali dipersyaratkan agar ditulis dengan tangan. Agar diperoleh kualitas tulisan yg setara dengan kualitas tulisan dari mesin cetak, sebaiknya gunakan printer inkjet atau laser, dan sebisa mungkin hindari penggunaan printer dot matrix karena akan memberi kesan kita orang yg tertinggal dalam hal teknologi. Gunakan jenis font standar, seperti Times New Roman ukuran 12 untuk memberi kesan formal.
